Technology and World Change Week 12

Today’s lesson was one of the most interesting lessons as we, students, are the guest lecturers of the day and we are suppose to educate the class about the future innovations that might be possible. There are groups who presented about eco technology, food for the future, photography and of course the most interesting presentation from my team, about E- commerce. All the presentations were very professional and from their website, all the relevant information could be found and we can even get a glimpse of the future of each of the topic presented.

For the presentation group which mentioned about the food for the future, it was what caught my attention the most as their approach to what the future might be is quite similar to my team’s idea.

The team mentioned about how food can be processed at homes which a personalized 3D printer at each household and consumer can now save the hassle of going to the supermarket when they are extremely tired after work. This will also help in saving resources as the 3D printer would allow consumers to choose the size for their choice of purchase. In this way, not only they will get the opportunity to try new food that they have no idea if it suits their taste, they can also helps in creating small portions for people who does not have such a big stomach.

Our team was the last team to present and we mentioned about the importance and the uprising of E- commerce in the society and it will eventually be inevitable in the future years. In this presentations, we made use of videos in our websites so that readers who come to the page will not be overwhelmed by the chunks of information but yet be able to know how the future technology that we mention in just a click. Our website was also drafted in a way that the tabs help users to identify the sections on which they will like to explore and some of the possible pros and cons of E-commerce. Other than that, bridging on the upcoming advanced technology of 3D printing, our team also believed that future shoppers can now get the products via their own 3D printers without having the hassle to wait for the product to be delivered to them by mail. They can now print out their products at home! Not only that, we also mentioned about the possibility of E- wallet, virtual fitting room with the incorporation of the functions in EZ- link cards and Kinect respectively.

Hence, with such insights gain within a lesson, I will like to rate the lesson 9/10 as I find it really useful as it gives us a glimpse of what might be possible in the future.
